Week of Aug 23rd.  NOCS Virtual Toonie this week is at Silverstar and we are riding... NOCS Virtual Toonie Ride #9 (Please label it this in your strava/trailforks so it is easy for us to find!) You get to choose from two rad options this week for our toonie... a quick reminder to grab your ride and food sponsor tickets from the ticket window prior to your ride Monday August 24th, Thursday August 25th, Friday August 28th, Saturday August 29th and Sunday August 30th. Note it must be during operating hours and if you don't have a ticket please visit the ticket office to get your free xcountry ticket. Option #1 :: Bannister GM, The Red Antler and SilverStar have joined to bring you an epic week! Here is option 1. For NOCS members who don't have a downhill or enduro pass, SilverStar has provide you with a free XC ticket. Grab yours from the ticket office Monday, Thursdays, or Fridays. Head out of the village and make your way to the top riding Silver Shack and Paradise Trail. Once there, find the Bannister truck, snap a pic, and enter on Instagram for a bonus prize. Afterwards, you will make your way down Snake Pit and back to the Village. Option #2 :: Bannister GM, The Red Antler and SilverStar have joined to bring you an epic week! Here is option 2. For NOCS members who have a downhill or enduro pass you will be doing a top to bottom of Pipedream. One of the best trails at Silver Star, this was featured as the Air DH trail for the Crankworx Summer Series. See how you stack up against the winning times. Women: 3:17. Men: 2:59. Greater Vernon Trails and Natural Spaces Master Plan This is your chance to make a difference. On Monday August 17, from 4pm to 7pm, shape your future trail network by giving your feedback to the Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO). Make your voice heard by going to BX Community Park, 5764 Silver Star Rd (behind BX Firehall), and filling out the survey. There, you can also meet and converse with the planners and land managers who make it all happen. A second opportunity will be on Wednesday Aug. 19, 4pm - 7pm at the Greater Vernon Athletics Park, 7000 College Way (beside the Vernon campus of Okanagan College). After August 17, you have the opportunity to engage by completing the online survey at the following link: http://www.rdno.ca/index.php/parks-recreation-and-culture-master-plans  Ranchlands Park is listed as a Natural Park and Open Space by RDNO. The mountain bike trails shown on Trailforks (https://www.trailforks.com/region/ranchlands-cypress/) are currently un-sanctioned, and exist from many years of multi-use recreation and grazing in the area. Unauthorized trail building is not condoned by NOCS and may jeopardize our ability to sanction existing and future trails. The RDNO has stated that there will be no more development of the Ranchlands area until the completion of the Master Planning Process, which it hopes to have completed by year end or early in 2021. Our involvement in shaping the Master Plan is a very important step to ensure that mountain biking is included in the usage determination of the Ranchlands trail network. Mountain bikers cannot assume that they will have access to this area in the future, and NOCS is aware of opposition from certain sectors to the use of the area by mountain bikers. Therefore it is important that you complete the online survey, or attend a meeting! And be sure to spread the word to your friends!! Reminder...
