As we moved our AGM to the fall, we needed to close off the 2023 year and hold a meeting to adhere to the Societies Act rules. We do encourage everyone to come so that we have quorum, and to meet new friends, old friends, friends with bikes…
Date: Thursday, May 23
Where: Ellison, upper parking lot
Ride time: 6PM
BBQ time: 7PM
Question time: 7:30PM
Cost: Free!
Thanks to Prestige Resorts and Skyride Cycles, the Killer King Challenge is back with draw prizes if you complete the route in 2024!
Ride (or run) it anytime on a single day in 2024 until the snow flies up high (usually late October), submit your GPS track to killerkingvernon@gmail.com and you’ll get entered into the draw.
Everyone is eligible whether you’ve done it in previous years or not. One entry for each time you complete the route in 2024.
What are the prizes? Two nights at any Prestige Resorts location in BC, and two gift cards from Skyride Cycles in Vernon. Wow!
For first time riders, you’ll earn a free sticker ("I Conquered the Killer King!") and there are also a few free Killer King t-shirts remaining if your size is available (no more X or XLs).
There will also be another Killer King Aid Station Day on Thanksgiving weekend (details will be sent out in September).
Visit www.KillerKingVernon.ca for more details.
Fifteen fabulous Trail Ninjas G-Tribe had their 3rd annual Trail Fairies Day. Led by Cam Sorenson, these incredible girls built the new blue tech trail at Becker Park.
It was an amazing day of learning about trail building and gaining some trail karma. Everyone was keen to learn how a bucket brigade can be a super-efficient way to move dirt quickly. The girls also put in a few good suggestions for potential future names.
We would like to thank Cam and Contour Trails, The City of Vernon and Wolsey Contracting for supporting this build. Way to go, Trail Fairies!
On Friday, June 7th, we are hosting a Trail Day as part of Bike Fest 2024 to celebrate BC Trails Day.

Social rides are back for the month of May. We're hoping that a passionate member will step up to continue these rides into June.
Join us for an evening of biking with like-minded individuals and the opportunity to make new connections. These rides are not guided; instead, we'll gather in the parking lot, offer route suggestions, and set you on your way!
We anticipate forming groups based on skill levels, with options for green, blue, and advanced trails. Don't worry, we'll help organize everyone!
Once a month, we’ll break out the BBQ in the parking lot. For the BBQ rides, we ask for a $5 donation. You can purchase a social ride pass in advance for the BBQ rides.

BC Parks will be conducting an ecosystem maintenance / wildfire mitigation project in Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park. The project will begin January 2024 and run until the end of March 2024.
The treatment will replicate the effects of historical wildfire on the area by removing forest ingrowth and opening the forest canopy, which will benefit grassland species and reduce wildfire risk.
The project area is comprised of one treatment unit located above Cosens Bay Beach along the Sidewinder Trail.
Crews will cut and remove conifer ingrowth and prune and limb larger diameter trees. Slash and debris will be both burned and removed off site.
For safety purposes, the public can expect temporary trail and area closures associated with the work.
